Hi, I'm Miriam. I'm a mom and a lawyer, and I know first-hand how challenging it can be to juggle a legal career and a family.
For as long as I can remember, I wanted to be a lawyer. When I was growing up, I loved to watch courtroom dramas with my grandmother. After law school, I became a criminal defense attorney–and loved every minute of it! But a few years in, my life took an unexpected turn–one baby and a divorce later, I was a single mom to a baby girl. The long hours, travel, and full court schedule were no longer exciting, it was just overwhelming.
I wanted to keep doing the work I loved, but doing it all was exhausting. I decided to chart my own course, and over the next few years, I slowly built my law firm from the ground up. Along the way, I learned a lot about running a business as a working mom. Today, I'm married with three kids, and busier than ever. I'm able to balance the career that I love and still have meaningful time with my family...without feeling overwhelmed and exhausted *all* of the time. I'm proud of the family-friendly culture at my firm, and I'm passionate about supporting other lawyer moms so they can continue doing great work and have a meaningful personal life.
I believe that our professional lives should accommodate our family lives, and the legal profession has some work to do to be more accessible to working moms. I decided to share my lessons learned along the way to building a family-friendly legal career, and support other moms in legal entrepreneurship.
